Women Entrepreneurs Business Council launched their five-year strategic plan yesterday after the annual general meeting of their parent body Fiji Commerce & Employers Federation.

Guest of honour, French ambassador to Fiji, François-Xavier Léger said France had made significant progress to improve gender equality and that the embassy was glad to provide support for Fiji to achieve the same through the initiatives taken by the WEBC.

Mr Léger said they promoted projects that were free of negative gender issues and were glad to provide their financial support to the FCEF and would continue to do so.

WEBC chairperson Eseta Nadakuitavuki said the 2022-2027 strategic plan was developed to nurture members, stimulate activities and contribute to national economy growth.

The four strategic goals outlined aim to provide holistic development of women entrepreneurs, promote sustainable business processes, engage new strategic partners, and establish income-generating activities to fund growth strategies.

WEBC held their first convention earlier this year and have seen positive progress towards the key issues brought up during the Women Invigorating the Nation (WIN) Convention.

FCEF president Vinay Narsey acknowledged the WIN convention and other recent initiatives taken by the WEBC in the hopes of attaining 30 per cent female representation on any board.

Mr Léger said he had high hopes for gender equality among the youth as he noted the rise in activism and interest in political issues.
