THE temporary weight restrictions on the Tamavua-i-wai Bridge along the Queens Road outside Suva will be lifted at 8pm tomorrow, December 8, 2018.

This was confirmed in a statement issued by the Fiji Roads Authority.

Over the past four months, the FRA has undertaken planned structural strengthening works on the bridge.

“During this time there have been reduced vehicle weight restrictions in place,” the statement said.

“The strengthening works were finished in November and an independent engineering assessment has been completed.”

The weight restriction will return to the former level: 16T axle set limit and 32T Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) or Gross Combination Mass (GCM) at all times.

The Land Transport Authority LTA has committed to remain at the Tamavua-i-wai Bridge and continue the enforcement of these weight restrictions.

For cases where transport combination vehicles with a heavier GCM than 32T is needed then an exemption will be required.
