Suva, Nasinu dominate netball tourney

SUVA and Nasinu districts dominated in this year’s Central Primary Schools Netball Tournament which was held over two days at the National Netball Centre in Suva.
Suva made a clean sweep in three grades which were the under-9, 12 and 14 grades. Nasinu took the under-10, 11 and 13 titles.
The Suva under-14 team easily won against defending champions Kadavu in the finals beating them 21-10 with a half time score of 11-6.
Suva coach Miriama Lawalu said the Suva team performed as expected from day one of competition.
“The performance got better and better every day we were here and the girls put on a marvelous finish in the final, we are all very proud of them and what they have achieved today,” said Lawalu.
Lawalu added most of the players in the team had experience from club level; tournaments which helped the team advance during the championship.
“All of our Suva players are experienced players, most of them play from the clubs which is good and also that has helped us a lot during the tournament, the experience and skills that they had.
“We would like to dedicate this win to the Almighty God for giving the strength and to the Suva netters themselves, this win is for them,” said Lawalu.
