THE Qaqa Suva rugby team and BLK Nadroga rugby side will host the Skipper Cup rugby competition semi-finals after the two teams recorded a win each in the last round of the provincial competition to secure the top two spots in the points table.

The Stallions thrashed Rewa 59-15 at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka on Friday to book a home semi-final.

After Tailevu’s effort to hold second place Naitasiri on to a 15 all draw on Saturday, Nadroga managed to progress to second place with 25 points and Naitasiri with 23 points.

The Skipper Cup defending champions Suva remains unbeaten in the competition and secures the home semi-final against Nadi that will be held in Suva on Saturday.

It will be another epic battle between the two teams after Suva defeated Nadi 33-19 in the last round of the competition on Friday at the Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.

Despite Nadi’s loss to Namosi in the sixth round, the Jetsetters still have hope to win the championship but will face a gallant Suva side on Saturday.

Nadroga’s union president Tiko Matawalu said despite the previous results the semi-finals would be a different ball game amongst the top four teams.

“The playoffs is another level of competition and it is anyone’s game despite the results accomplished in the last few rounds and the four semi-finalists all have the calibre to win the championship but it depends on the consistency the teams been preparing in and the momentum within the players aiming for a win,” said Matawalu.

Meanwhile the results of the last round of the Skipper Cup competition sees Nadroga beating Rewa 59-17, Suva defeated Nadi 33-19, Naitasiri 15-15 Tailevu, Namosi beat Northland 26-15.
