ANY taxidriver involved in any illegal activity should be ready to face the full brunt of the law.

As the country gears up for Christmas and the new year, its parent body ā€” the Fiji Taxi Association (FTA) ā€” has reminded taxidrivers to be well aware of their roles as public service providers.

While the association has not received any complaint on illegal dealings so far, FTA president Raben Singh said it should be noted that their functions were to ensure the safe transportation of members of the public.

“I have not received any complaint so far about drivers allegedly involved in drugs but they know if they are involved in illegal dealings, their licences will be revoked,” Mr Singh said.

“Being public service drivers they are not supposed to engage in drugs and illegal dealings and it is important that they honour their work as public service providers.

“Every taxidriver knows and understands his/her role and it is important they stick to their roles as we gear up to the busy festive season.”
