Rewa has foregone a chance to attain a commanding position in the Digicel Premier League table after fighting to a lackluster 1-1 draw against Nadi in their first match after a six-month hiatus.

Rewa drew first blood in the 15th minute through Kavaia Rawaqa’s left footed strike.

Nadi recovered through an equaliser from Patrick Ralulu.

The two teams were locked 1-all at half-time.

Rewa coach Roderick Singh said that he was disappointed with the result.

“For us this draw is a loss,” he said.

“This is a result we did not want. We lacked in a lot of areas especially in our attacking.

“We had dropped our pace after scoring the goal and we gave Nadi a lot of opportunities and it cost us an equaliser.

“They have several national reps.

“There is a lot of soul searching. We hope to do better in the next game.”

Nadi coach Shalen Lal said he was satisfied with the draw.

“We wanted to win and we know Rewa also wanted to win but then we are satisfied with that one point,” he said.

“That early goal from Rewa could have cost us.

“These boys played after five months and we got plenty new players that came into our system.” In another DPL encounter, Nadroga defeated Navua 2-1.

Nadroga’s goals were scored by Rusiate Matarerega and Liseri Qaica while Zainal Ali scored for Navua.
