Pastor facing rape charges complied with costs

The High Court in Suva was today told that a pastor facing charges of sexual related offences had complied with costs.
Ravinesh Chand, 36 appeared before judge Justice Daniel Goundar.
Mr Chand had been ordered by the court to pay costs to State’s witnesses and assessors after he failed to turn up for trial which was supposed to start from Monday.
He is charged with one count of sexual assault and three counts of rape and it is alleged the incidents happened on March 21, 2019 in Luvuluvu, Nausori where Mr Chand allegedly committed the acts on a 15-year-old female church member.
The court was told that the accused had been discharged from hospital on Tuesday and was fit to stand trial now stated to commence from December 7, 2020.
Mr Chand is on bail.
The case has been adjourned to December 7 , for trial.
