Overseas sporting agents will be eagerly watching this weekend’s Mobil Uprising 7s tournament with a chance of picking some of Fiji’s upcoming stars in the abbreviated.

Tournament organiser Ropate Kauvesi said he had been contacted by agents across the globe who would be watching the tournament with interest.

“I have agents contacting me and wanting to watch our players, and if we can spot and highlight a number of players and team, they are eager to know,” Kauvesi said.

Kauvesi said it opened another doorway for the huge untapped talents we have locally and the onus would be on the 100 plus players participating this weekend to give it their all.

“It is another opportunity for our players in that if they don’t get selected for the Fiji 7s team, they have a chance to go overseas and we are glad that if one or two rugby players get that chance then we have done our part in creating that pathway.

“There are players who want exposure and they will all have their chances this weekend and with the games also going live on pay per view into the United Kingdom, United States and France just increases the chances.”

The Mobil Uprising 7s will be aired live on the Walesi platform.

The two-day tournament kicks off on Friday January 29 at the Uprising Sports Complex in Pacific Harbour.
