Rosie Holidays has received more than 5000 bookings over the past 10 days from Australia alone.
Managing director Tony Whitton said this was a testament to the significant relaxing of travel restrictions made between Fiji and the Australian governments.
“Talking to some of my suppliers in Australia last night, they are now finding difficulty in getting space over the Christmas period 23 December to 03 January at some selected resorts,” he said.
“So from our perspective the holiday packages launched by Fiji Airways, Tourism Fiji with our resort partners are selling remarkably well out of Australia.”
He said for Malolo Island Resort, they anticipated a high occupancy rate over the holiday season.
“For our resort division we will be reopening our four-star Malolo Island Resort on 20 December, and then our Luxury resort with over-water bungalows Likuliku on 1st February. Malolo over the Christmas and new year period has high occupancies. And now with Likuliku open for selling we are now starting to see booking enquiries from Australia and USA coming in strong.”
He added about 600 employees were ready to return to work once operations begin.
“Our staff is ready. The travellers are ready and there is no better time to travel. As for our employees, the Rosie Group with our resort division provided jobs to close to 600 people.
“As we see a slow build in visitor arrivals our goal is to slowly bring our family of workers back to work. We will not be able to bring them all back at one time, but will be staged and gradual.”
