THE Oceania Paralympic Committee held a two day capabilities workshop which ended at the ANZ Stadium in Laucala Bay today.
Run by OPC Project Co-ordinator Chris Nunn and funded by the developing arm of the International Paralympic Committee, the AGITOS Foundation.
A total of forty athletes, officials and teachers attended the workshop.
Nunn said with the increase in competition and at various levels for Paralympics it is important for coaches to have the skills to be able to guide athletes from the beginning to elite competitions.
“The ultimate goal is to also have an increased number of athletes to represent Fiji at the Paralympic games in Tokyo 2020.
Fiji had sent two athletes to the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
“We are looking to double the number in 2020 and send maybe four athletes and there is possibilities of doing even more.”
