GONE are the days when 69-year-old Saiasi Navulagilagi and 70-year-old Vasita Tinivata had to worry when it rained because their roof would leak.
The couple were among two recipients from Tavuya Village in Rewa who now own a newly built home. The new homes were built by a charity group from Sydney called Communities for Communities.
Rob Lynch and his son Patrick formed the Communities for Communities.
They named Mr Navulagilagi’s new home Vale Ni Marau (Happy Home) An emotional Mr Navulagilagi said he was thankful to the charity group for building a new home for him and his family.
“I am very happy that I came across this new development to be able to have a new house. During bad weather, I would always be worried as we live in an old house that leaks,” he said.
Mr Navulagilagi lives with his wife and three children and solely relies on selling coconuts to buy whatever he can to feed the family.
He said he earned about $50-$70 a week from selling coconuts.
