FIJI Football Association chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf says they have an idea of who will take over the reins of Fiji’s national football coach.
The Fiji FA has narrowed down the eight short-listed candidates to five and is expected to name the coach soon.
Yusuf said they had their eyes upon a certain coach who has had a wealth of experience in his coaching career who would likely be the right candidate.
“All the coaches we have short-listed are Europe based coaches and we have set our eyes on one who is currently in Armenia coaching the team there and if we are satisfied with then that person will be our national coach,” said Yusuf.
“We want to get someone with a Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Pro Licence and to be highly qualified, the person we are looking at is matured and has done some work already in the Pacific and achieved wonderful results,” he added.
The committee will finalise their decision once the Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel returns from his overseas trip.
“At the moment Patel is away overseas and will be back by Thursday and definitely next week we will finalise the likely coach for the Fiji national team,” said Yusuf.
