PEOPLE in Labasa Town will now access free and faster internet services following the free Walesi Wi-Fi hotspot launch today.

Members of the Northern public turned up in large numbers to witness the event, a Fijian Government Facebook post said.

Walesi Director Robert Khan while speaking at the event said the purpose of this initiative was to benefit Fijians for study purposes and to connect them to the rest of the world.

The free WiFi hotspot initiative was announced in the 2018-2019 National Budget with a $40 million allocation for increased speed in public WiFi hot spots in Fiji.

These locations include My Suva Park, Sigatoka Bus Stand, Koroivolu Park in Nadi, Shirley Park in Lautoka, Ba Bus Stand, Korovou Market, Syria Park in Nausori, Labasa Civic Centre and Savusavu Market.
