The former team mates of Swire Shipping Fijian Drua outside centre Iosefo Masi are in awe of how far the 25-year old has come in his debut season.
He is ranked among the best of the best in the 2023 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season and his team mates from the Eastern Saints Rugby Club (ESRC) in Suva are proud to watch him strut his stuff in the world’s toughest club competition.
“He has set a great platform for our club members to try and achieve,” said Jeke Lesuma, a member of the ESRC.
“Watching him excel in every game makes us motivated to train harder and hopefully follow in his footsteps in making it into the Drua team.”
Lesuma describes Masi as a soft-spoken and well-disciplined player and he thinks his teammates could not agree more.
“Masi was always a very respectful and disciplined teammate and to see him living the dream is pretty amazing,” Lesuma said.
“He was a flanker in our club but could play in any position and he is doing a really good job for the Drua at outside centre.
“He’s a hard runner and a skilful player so we are happy the Drua are utilising his full potential and we look forward to watching him and the Drua team play more home games next season and we can’t wait to watch them in the Super Rugby quarter finals for the first time.”
