Fiji FA revised calender approved

A revised calendar has been given the green light during the Fiji Football Association Board of Control meeting which was held in Nadi today.
Announcing the changes, Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel said the Inkk Mobile Battle of Giants (BOG) would be played at Churchill Park in Lautoka and the Courts Inter District Championship (IDC) would be hosted at ANZ Stadium in Suva.
Patel also announced Fiji FA is planning to take the Vodafone Fiji FACT to Subrail Park in Labasa.
He said this would depend on the new administrator in Labasa together with the Local Government to ensure Subrail Park was in top condition and that it had got the right approvals to host the tournament.
Other key announcement by Patel after discussion and approval at the meeting include:
- Fiji FA has made a submission to get accredited under Fiji National Sports Commission to continue with its domestic competition once the government announcement is made for the restrictions to be lifted on sports. The submission also include FIFA’s guidelines that needs to be adhered to when football activities resume.
- The Association have applied for the OFC Solidarity funding to assist the players and those affected from football during this Covid-19 pandemic. Fiji FA will be distributing almost $F68,000 worth of groceries. There will also be some monetary funding given to the players that have lost income in this pandemic.
- President Patel today also announced Fiji FA will start “Football for Humanity Foundation” which is a program to look after the players in times of natural disasters affecting football in Fiji in future. This program will be established soon.
