THE Sugarcane Growers Council has urged farmers to cut every stalk of harvestable cane and transport it to the mill as soon as possible.

CEO Sundresh Chetty said with 92 per cent of all cane crushed, every effort should be made while weather conditions were favourable to harvest the remaining crop.

He said the expected total harvest for the 2019 season was expected to be around the 1.7 million tonne mark.
