TWO young offenders were shown the mercy of the court when they received partly suspended sentences from Judge Justice Vinsent Perera this afternoon.
Livinai Kitione, 19, and Ifereimi Seru Ukamea, 19, had pleaded guilty to a count each of aggravated burglary and theft before the High Court in Suva.
The court heard that the two stole $800 worth of fish from a shop in Raiwaqa on September 27, 2018.
Justice Perera sentenced Kitione and Ukamea to two years and eight months imprisonment out of which they will have to serve three months and the remaining two years and five months has been suspended for five years.
Looking at the time spent in remand, Justice Perera said the two had already served their sentence of three months and released them today.
Justice Perera told Kitione and Ukamea that since the festive season is here, he doesn’t want to see them in court in this manner again.
