Duituturaga tenders resignation as SODELPA general secretary

Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) general-secretary Emele Duituturaga has resigned from her post citing personal and family reasons.
SODELPA party leader Ratu Epenisa Cakobau accepted Ms Duituturaga’s formal resignation after she had served for a period of nine months.
“Her immense contribution enabled the party to overcome a suspension and under her strong leadership, the party has been able to build on its preparations for the 2022 General Elections,” he said.
Ratu Epenisa said Ms Duituturaga would remain a senior member of the party and had pledged to continue to offer her service to the part as needed.
“We wish her well in her future endeavours and we are comforted that Ms Duituturaga will remain an ardent and loyal supporter.
“In the meantime, the president will be the party’s point of contact whilst a Management Board meeting will be convened soon to commence the recruitment of Ms Duituturaga’s successor.”
Ms Duituturaga’s resignation as General-Secretary would be effective from close of business on Friday, March 12, 2021.
