Courts IDC: Capital side bags second win

THE Suva football side defeated Rewa 2-1 in their second match at the Courts Inter District Championship in the capital yesterday.

The whites took the lead with an early goal from Ravinesh Karan Singh in the second minute.

Iosefo Verevou equalized for Rewa from the penalty in the 18th minute.

However, Bruce Hughes scored the winner in the 41st minute after some good work on the left flank by Meli Codro.

The win has rejuvenated Suva’s hopes of qualifying to the semi-finals while Rewa is out of the tournament after two loses in as many games.

Nadi leads the pool with six points, Suva and Tavua have three points each while Rewa is yet to register a point.

In matches today, Suva plays Tavua while Nadi battles Rewa.
