A man who allegedly stabbed his 21-year-old de facto partner to death has been further remanded in custody. Sivaniolo Vunakece is charged with one count of murder.

He appeared before magistrate Waleen George at the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday.

The police prosecutor objected to bail on the basis that the offence was indictable in nature. The prosecutor also told the court that Mr Vunakece could interfere with prosecution witnesses.

In response, Mr Vunakece told the court that he would not interfere with the witnesses if he was granted bail.

The court was also told that Mr Vunakece was also facing a charge of acting to cause grievous harm because a domestic violence restraining order had been issued against him and he had allegedly breached the conditions.

The matter has been adjourned to November 10.
