Being a first offender is no excuse for an aggravated robbery suspect to be granted bail.

Magistrate Waleen George clarified this while remanding Reshmi Lata Prasad, who allegedly robbed a 65-year-old lady along Waimanu Road, Suva, last week of more than $50,000.

The 40-year-old who is charged for one count of aggravated robbery appeared before Magistrate George at the Suva Magistrates Court.

Police prosecutor Sitiveni Baleitaveuni told the Court the victim was on her way to the bank to deposit the money after selling her property when the incident occurred.

Ms Prasad has been remanded and is due back in court on September 29.
